Next stop, Baixa and Alfama. It was overcast the first part of the day. Great! But, it rained hard in the afternoon. It was still so much fun! Praça do Comércio There were a ton of shops and mom & pop cafe's up this entire street. Pretty neat. We headed up to the Castle of St. George after some wandering around Baixa. Sorry it's a little shaky but I wanted to show you what we experienced on the way up to the castle. This is after our hour long tram ride (we got on going the wrong direction ;0) We ate at a little cafe' and this is what you would normally find. Alright, moving on. Our first full day was spent in Belem. This was in a little park across the street from a huge monastery (more pictures of that on a later post) It's a sculpture of two horses. We don't even know why they were there or what they mean but, we just like the line from Family Guy were Peter says that "horses are bad people". I don't know, were are weird like that. ;0) * just a note-there is a video so you might want to kill the music* This is what the sidewalks look like all over the place. Slippery when wet. I know from experience. Torre de Belem This tower was built at the opening of the Tagus River in the 1500s. The river is the only way to get to Lisbon from the Atlantic Ocean, so this tower was built as a look out. Monument of Discoveries A monument built for all of the discoverers who came from Portugal. The most famous of which is Vasco Da Gama who discovered the trade route from Portugal to India. In a later post there will be pictures of ...

We went to Lisbon Portugal for our 5th Anniversary, and oh my goodness, it was spectacular! OK, so getting there is half the fun right? Wrong. We got up at 3:30 a.m. to catch our 7:30 flight to Phoenix which was great! Nice and short. Next flight was to Philadelphia where we had a longer layover and we tried to sleep, but that didn't happen. Of course the last flight was to Lisbon. Six and a half hours later we saw light and the most western coast of Europe. What a sight. **** So we got off of the plane and started our first day on the town (we were up for like 24 hours!) First off, Happy Birthday Dana Marie! I love being able to do a post dedicated to my sistas birthdays! Dana is the greatest! She is seriously a wonderful mom to her boy Jonas, an excellent musician, and the sweetest sister! I love you Dana. Sorry I won't see you this weekend, but I will see you at the most awesomest Halloween party ever! ;0) I think this will be the last post in awhile so... adeus os meus amigos!

Every year we go to Park City with the whole Barber family for a weekend. Chris's dad has some meetings and they so nicely invite us all to come up and enjoy having a weekend away. We stayed at a different place this year, The Silverado at The Canyons. We have normally stayed at The Lodge right by the alpine slide. It was nice to go somewhere different.  It rained on and off the whole day, but hey, I like rain! This was taken from our room and it was probably the closest rainbow I have ever seen. I was so excited and I don't know why. **** Chris and I love nothing more than eating out at new places. We find it to be the best part of going to Park City or any vacation for that matter.  This is at Bistro 412. Loved it. This is their homemade root beer. It was delicious! They also have the cutest little fries. I love motivational posters. They make me feel happy and give me that warm fuzzy feeling in my stomach. Some of the greats include topics on Teamwork, Perseverance, and Innovation. However, the greatest motivational poster ever created is on the topic of just plain awesomeness. I'm not sure who created this one, but they are a friggin' genious.... P.S. There is no way to type sarcasm, but I hope you all realize that I was not being serious about loving motivational posters....except for the one pictured above.

I'm finally starting to get some recognition for my awesomeness.... Actually this is from a story about Jon Williams, the place kicker for Weber State's pointyball team. And there I am in the background doing my clinical observations. Maybe there will be some more sweet pictures of me this weekend as I will be on the sidelines doing observations during the game.
