Ruined... but not completly

Today was nothing special. Just a normal day of sleeping in, going to my moms, reading the newspaper, going to work. Same old, same old. Until the last patient of the night. I am still so upset and it happened a few hours ago. I'll explain why. 25 years old. Diabetic. Hasn't had a dilated eye exam for 2 years even though the patient was suppose to come in every 3 months. Complaining that as of a week ago there vision had been getting worse and can only see side vision in one eye. To make the story short, both retina's have detached and the patient is officially and irreversibly blind in both eyes. This person is ONLY 25 YEARS old and is now blind and it could have been prevented. So upsetting. Chris could tell I was sad and I needed some dinner so he got me my secret indulgence (chicken nuggets) which helped a little :) I don't know why I needed to share this story, I guess to remind everyone to take care of themselves. **** Onto something silly. Flowride... take it easy.

One of the highlights of our Oregon trip was the Flow rider that the boys all rode on Friday. Boy was it hilarious! They got an hour and a half to take on the bad boy, and needless to say none of them really "rode" for very long. I think they all still had fun, just a little sore the next day. Here are some of the highlights. Chris BJ Jeremy Tyler T yler was the only one to stay on for longer that about 10 seconds. It was so much fun to watch I don't think I will ever try.

Existing in Liquid

What is the one thing that ALL kids love? Swimming! And that is just what these little hooligans did pretty much the whole time we were in Oregon. Right across the street from out cabin is a new rec. building that has a swimming pool, basketball court, workout room, and so on. It was the perfect thing to entertain them. Gavin, Teagan, Kaydence, and Jex waiting for the "adults" to get ready to go to the pool. I have to explain this picture. I have a difficult time getting Jex and Kaydence to look at the camera long enough for me to get a picture, so I did a little trick. I asked them, one the count of three, to shout out their favorite Pokemon. I think it worked. My perfect model Teagan who like a real girl changed her swimming suit 3 times ;) I giggled every time Gavin looked at me. Love his goggles. I assume by the sticking out of her tongue, Kaydence didn't want her picture taken. I FINALLY got one of Jex kinda looking at me (only because his mom was telling him to on...

On the road again

To Sunriver Oregon! Doesn't everyone just love a 10 hour road trip? Not I, but I will sacrifice to spend some quality time with this stud muffin. Actually, it was for a Barber family reunion. We left around 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and arrived at our cabin around 11:30 that night. Chris's parents had told us there was a little bakery called Cafe' Sintra. Does anyone have a guess as to why we would care to go to a cafe' with that name? After our "brunch" we walked around Sunriver's downtown. I made Chris & Ty get on these kids toys. I just love Tyler's face in this picture. We spent most of our time in this shop. Whaaa? And we actually bought something from there. A new didgeridoo! We stayed in our cabin for a lot of the time and watched movies. Goonies, Newsies (which I realized is probably my favorite movie of a time... Spot Conlon makes me a little nervous :) Singing in the Rain. Loved it. **** The next day we went to Lava Butte or Butt as Chris like...

Pure Delight

I find it kinda of strange that I never really like to read when I was younger. I guess it wasn't that I didn't like to read, I just didn't have a passion for it. Life sure has changed. I can't tell you how funny it feels when I don't have a book to read. My day to day life doesn't seem complete if I don't have a book to read. The book I just finished is The Guernsey literary and potato peel pie society. I can't tell you all how much I fell head over heels in love with this little jewel. Seriously so touching. Please, if you love to read, READ THIS. The characters I swear are my friends and I can't wait to one day visit Guernsey and stay in Elizabeth's home and walk in silence on the beach with Dawsey. If you like Pride and Prejudice, you will love this. Next on the list (and it's a long list) The Hunger Games I have heard so much about this book and can't wait to dive in! Oh, and by the way... happy 100th post to me.

Kaloo Kalay, no work today...

Sorry 'bout that. I guess I'm just way excited for the new Tim Burton movie, Alice in Wonderland. Anyone who knows Chris & I well knows that our favorite Disney movie is Alice in Wonderland. People always think that's weird and that's why we like it. It's weird. The teaser trailer came out this week and it got me super excited! Moving on. How to dive into a lake By: Christoph the magnificent Things you will need: A lake Step 1 Step to the edge of the dock, toes hanging slightly over the edge. Chin down, hands placed at sides (think stage presence!) Step 2 Bend at the knees and wrap your arms tightly around you. Don't forget to look at the camera and smile. Step 3 Bend your knees just a little bit more and push off of the dock propelling yourself into the water. Remember to lift your hands above your head. Your body will follow your arms. Step 4 Keep your body straight as you gracefully enter the water. Begin veering back up towards the surface. Wait for a...
